Data Privacy Notice for EU-Cleaner

The Avira EU-Cleaner is a product of Avira Operations GmbH & Co. KG, published in cooperation with the Anti-Botnet Advisory Centre of eco - Association.

It will not be necessary to provide any personal-related data for downloading and using the EU-Cleaner.

What data will be collected from the Avira EU-Cleaner?

The Avaira EU-Cleaner collects and processes data only in connection with updates. Updates will be used for the purpose in effectively freeing your computer of threats and to keep the product itself up-to-date. By implementing updates, the Avira EU-Cleaner connects with the update server at Avira Operations GmbH & Co. KG. The update server holds the latest product versions (if such exists), in particular the latest virus signatures and detection routines. This way the Avira EU-Cleaner will always be up-to-date and will be able to free your computer from the latest threats. With this update method, the so-called UAS (User Agent String) including the ip-address from your computer will only be transferred, and saved in the weblog on Avira’s update server.

The UAS includes standardized information on the following technical system values:

  • Information, that it is dealing with the Avira EU-Cleaner
  • The tool’s version number that the Avira EU-Cleaner uses, in order to load updates (Avira Webloader)
  • The product language
  • The unique serial number, that is randomly generated whilst being copied.

Further data will not be collected nor processed.

In what scope will the transferred update data be used?

The collected data will be anonymous and used exclusively for creating statistics. The statistical information serves mainly for improvement and further devolvement of the Avira EU-Cleaner.

Which data will otherwise be collected and transferred?

By using the Avira EU-Cleaner you can send the scan results in form of a report to the Anti-Botnet Advisory Centre. The report serves solely for product improvement and will only be used for statistically purposes. Sending the report is absolutely voluntary. You will be asked after every scan whether you want to send the report or not. You can view the contents of the report before it is sent. The contents of the report will be encrypted and anonymised (no personal data will be transferred). The transfer itself will be via an encrypted connection.

Regarding the security of your computer please consider the following basic rules:

    Check your computer for infection. Please use our EU-Cleaner to remove all threats.
